Photography 🢒 Two Territories

Image

Two characteristic features of the landscape around Tuktoyaktuk: Pingoes and driftwood. June 8, 2023.

Pingoes are the small cone-shaped hills. They form when water pools on top of permafrost.

Driftwood washes down the Mackenzie river from places with trees, making the local area one of the few places in the arctic where wood is available.
